A BILL TO EXTEND THE TERM OF OFFICE OF MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT FOR A PERIOD OF SIX MONTHS RENEWABLE ONCE HAS BEEN DEEMED ADMISSIBLY BY THE CHAIRMEN’S CONFERENCE AND TABLED BEFORE PARLIAMENT.
The Bill which is being scrutinized by the constitutional laws committee provides for proper monitoring and the recompilation of electoral registers and the implementation of the biometric system of registration.
In another development, the National assembly has amended and adopted a bill to authorize the president of the republic to ratify the Cotonou Treaty on International Trade which promotes the development of the private sector.
Furthermore, the mandate of Honorable ZAKARI MOHAMAN, NUDP member of parliament from Benoue West who replaces Mohamadou Ahidjo appointed Roving Ambassador was validated with his parliamentary attributes given to him.
