The Newly Appointed Governor of the Far North Region Fonka AUgustine AWA takes office Monday in an official ceremony chaired Cameroon’s Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation Rene SADI.
Talking to him on phone hours before his installation, Far North Governor Augustine AWA says God will guide him through.
The new Governor of the Far North Region, Augustine Awa Fonka describing how he received his appointment, told the administrator of the blog how happy he was “I was elated and pleasantly surprised,” said the soft spoken civil administrator.
In a telephone discussion, yesterday April 15, he expressed gratitude to the Head of State, Paul Biya for the confidence bestowed on him, saying he will place his tenure of office under the guidance of God Almighty. “I sincerely thank the Head of State, Paul Biya for the confidence confided on me by offering me the opportunity to serve my fatherland in this high capacity,” said Augustine Awa Fonka. He promised to be a team player and work with his collaborators on whom he counts to attain the expected results.
Member of the 1996 batch of the National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM), Yaounde Augustine Fonka before his appointment, was the Senior Divisional Officer for Mbam and Kim Division in the Centre Region. Since graduating from ENAM, he has served in many capacities. He began his career in Ekondo Titi in Ndian Division, South West Region after which he was appointed First Assistant Senior Divisional Officer in Mundemba still in Ndian. He equally served as Divisional Officer in Nwa and Oku Sub-divisions in the North West Region, Poli Sub-division in the North Region, Babessi, Jakiri, Wum Central still in the North West Region and Tiko Sub-division in the South West Region. Since 2010, Augustine Awa Fonka has been serving in Mbam and Kim Division as Senior Divisional Officer. Augustine Awa Fonka hails from Akum, Santa Sub-division of Mezam Division in the North West Region. The 43-year-old-man is married and a father of six.
