New Ambassador of Gabon presents letters of credence

The Head of State His Excellency Paul BIYA received the letters of accreditation from the Ambassador of Gabon to Cameroon, HE Paul Patrick BIFFOT, in a colourful diplomatic ceremony at Unity Palace on 02 January 2013

The ceremony that started at 12 noon when the Gabonese Ambassador drove into the courtyard of Unity Palace.

After military honours, he proceeded into the presence of the President of the Republic, to whom he presented the papers by which the Gabonese President Ali BONGO ONDIMBA designated him as the new permanent envoy of that country to Cameroon.

The Ambassador had a brief discussion with President Paul BIYA at the end of the presentation, and opportunity for them to make an overview of the relations between the two brotherly and friendly countries.

The situation in Central African Republic, where rebels are on the verge of the capital city Bangui, was certainly also discussed by the Head of State and the new Ambassador.
